Do airlines give you a discount on airfare if you book a group of people for a flight.?

I need to purchase 7 tickets for a group who is travelling together, same departure/arrival...same destination...same return.

No....7 tickets is not even nearly enough for a discount. They give discounts only when booking LARGE tour groups. (yes I know this for a fact since I was trying to get the same deal for my sisters wedding party)
Yes you can have special group deals but the minimum limit is usually 10 passengers if in economy class. 7 if in premium class. You will have some more benefits such as group check-in (avoiding queues). You don't mention what airline but just do a search on the airlines web for "group travel". One example provided, BA

Tour operators might give you better packages for group travels as compared to using airlines services
