Do airlines still offer airfare discounts if you are traveling due to death of a family member?
Not just to attend funeral services, but as a sole surviving relative, to make funeral arrangements, close out the estate, etc

- No, because how would they know if you're lying or not?
- Yes, but it appears you can usually get as low a rate online. http://www.usatoday.com/travel/columnist/mcgee/2008-09-30-bereavement-fares_N.htm
- no
- Do gas stations, dry cleaners, rent a car places, hotels or funeral directors give discounts to people because a relative died??? What about appliance stores, cell phone companies, sushi bars and tile and flooring stores? Why would you expect an airline to treat you any differently?
- yeah they do, put its a pain to go through the process, because you have to present the death certificate and id and a bunch of other stuff, so it is easier just to get a cheap ticket online.
- Maureeen, I do not know of any airline that does. I have not seen any box to check for online booking for this, either. Regards, Dan
- Nope
