eBay automatic (maximum) bidding question?

If I put in a bid for $100.00 (the current highest bid) how long does it take for someone else's automatic bid to show up? Like, let's say they set theit maximum bid at $120.00. When will I know that I've been outbid is it automatic, or will it take hours?

1. If someone had put in a max bid of 120 you would have known right away, as you would have gotten an outbid page that comes up. So you are the highest bidder until someone else bids higher than you - for now.
