if I repace a snow blower drive belt with a non v belt will it still work right?

My belt broke on my snow blower, the one that drives the wheels. I took it off searched ebay for a replacement part number. Found one that says it fits that model but the belt that came is a non v - belt its just a plane flat style belt, same width and lenthg though. Will this work the same or is it critical to have the v belt ribbed on the bottom style?

1. if it dont fit right belt will slip being a v shape wil pretty much have to be should be able to get one from a dealer or a small engine shop most likley wil not work or not work right
2. The replacement belt you got will probably work as a temporary fix, but if the pulleys are made for a V belt, they will probably destroy the flat belt in a short time.
