Traveling Jet Blue- How should I check my car seat?

I will be going on a short flight (45 minutes) with my almost 3 year old son by myself. There's no way I can carry his car seat with me to the gate and then on the plane. I am also sure he'll do fine with just a seat belt. However, Should I wrap the car seat in a plastic recycling bag when I get to the airport check in? Does Jet blue provide bags for car seats? Should I just leave it as is?
