Remax or Prudential, which is better real estate office?

Looking to possibly switch realtors, go from local (large) agency to a national company. Any opinions?

  1. More than the agency is to get a good agent. In my area ReMax outshines Prudential 20-1. Another area the reverse is the norm.
  2. It does not really matter which company 'brand name' you choose to go with. There are 'great' agents at small, boutique agencies, and there are 'great' agents at large, national agencies. There are also 'horrible' agents at each. You should select an agent that you feel comfortable with, and who you feel will work hard for you.
  3. The agent IS the company to the consumer. Now, I realize that "technically" that's not true, but the reality is it is the AGENT that drives the marketing, the follow up, the pricing and staging advice, the communication with you (the homeowner) and with the agents and prospective buyers that consider your property. It'll be the agent who assists and counsels you through the negotiations, who shephards the transaction through to closing, who holds your hand, who pounds on you when you're not being realisic, and so on and so on! Virtually none of that is controlled by the company. In a heartbeat I'd choose a great agent with a mediocre company over a mediocre agent with a great company every single day of the week. I'd suggest you speak with friends and co-workers who've been pleased with their agent. Depending on where you're located, you also might want to consider focusing on agents who've been around a while - our current market is like nothing we've seen for many years. An agent who was in the business 10 or more years ago has likely had experience with selling homes in more challenging markets. Just a thought. Good luck with your decision.
