What makes a little e-boutique stand out amongst name brand retail online stores?
I am starting a boutique e-store to sell ladies clothing and other stuff. I have a desired niche. I have no brick and mortar store to boost sales. Once the website is up and the stock is input, what would are the best ways to get and keep customers? What makes a little e-boutique stand out amongst name brand e-stores? I would also like to maximize sales by listing on ebay, etsy or other auction/sale sites. Which websites would be suggest or not recommend? I would like the business to be profitable over time and not a causal endeavor, leading to a brick and mortar store at a later date. I am trying to figure out e-business strategy. Would love to hear your suggestions. Thanks.

- I have had an e-store on ecrater.com for 3 years now..free to list..lots of help on the community boards. You could go with ebay or other sites..take into account the fees involved including PayPal or Google checkout when you set your prices. Also, if you don't have current positive feedback on ebay it's tough to sell. I've been selling there since 2004. List your store or the many online directories..There are some free ones out there.
- Its nice to have this energy but bear in mind you've billions if not millions of competitors out there. Consider starting from where you are instead of hitting the globe. Try selling to your neighbors, friends, colleagues. Once words get out and business if profitable, you can kick-start from there.
- Unique items that can't be found anywhere else and Great customer service. Return all emails and phone calls ASAP. Etsy and Ebay are great, etsy is really for handmade items only, that you have made yourself. You might enjoy reading my profile if you get a chance.
- top customer service is a start... but before that you should setup free marketing campaigns with web 2.0 properties and article marketing... then you can focus on media buys and pay-per-click campaigns... all whilst providing the best service possible!
