What is the secret to bidding on ebay?

I keep getting outbid in the last few seconds on Ebay. Is there a secret to getting the last bid in ie so many seconds from the end of the auction? Or is it just pot luck?

  1. Pot Luck I'm afraid. Youre doing it the right way by waiting until the last few seconds but others will be doing the same. One of those things I suppose!!
  2. say u wanna bid 15.00 u bid 15.01 people will only put 15.00 ;D good luck
  3. It's a secret.
  4. You could try putting 2 bids in one after the other, the second one for example 5 pounds higher than the first. If someone outbids you on the first bid you can still win it with the second. Other than that try waiting till the last 20 seconds or so before putting your bid in.
  5. I enter the maximum amount i am willing to pay when the end of auction is 30 seconds away . I might bid £20 at the very last minute when the bidding is only on £5 if i feel the item is worth that much , this way i will out bid anything under £20 but if the maximum bid already in is say £6 i will still only pay £7 for the item . Hope this helps .
  6. Try the link below. I have not used it in a while but it does work It costs about a pound to register then you get three bids per month i think. What it will do is put your bid in for you 3 seconds or 1 second or 5 I think before the auction finishes. You set this. This is probably why you get out bid at the last moment. you set the max you want to pay it does the rest. when you sign up on Hammer-snipe just do the basic one Pay pal charge you one dollar. but that may have changed by now. Then it gives you two or three auctions for free.
  7. Sniping, sniping, sniping. I prefer to snipe manually because it's free and fairly reliable. Watch the clock and click on the "confirm bid" button in the last minute or even last few seconds. Another trick I learned is placing a large-ish bid at the start of the auction to put other people off (say 50% of my maximum) and then snipe at the end. Check on newly listed items to get the best deals, put good ones on your watch list and you'll have a head start on other bidders.
