- He is suggesting an off-eBay transaction which is a violation of eBay rules. The only safe payment method is PayPal and buyers and sellers very rarely meet in person
- I wouldn't trust anyone that wanted to bypass ebay or paypal. I would think they are trying to scam you and get around the protections that ebay and paypal offer the seller. I would bet you that his check will bounce, be stolen, or be for more than what the item costs. You take the extra money, give it to the "shipping clerk" for shipping. When the check bounces you are responsible for the money
- when i buy things on eby it says that you ar not allowed to make offers to purchase outside of ebay after its been listed. it is to protect the seller from a scam. so dont sell anything to this person if you want to actually get money for what you sell
- Considering he wants to send you a cashier's check, which are generally frauds, it's probably a scam. If he sends you more than the price and asks you to wire the extra, then it's definitely a scam. You should ignore him and continue your auction.
