When celebrities die (actors, actresses, athletes, news reporters, etc). Where do their personal items...?

Where do their personal items i.e. clothing, etc. go to? Does the family donate it to charity, auctions, etc.?

1. most of the time, two things happen: the family keeps what they want, and the rest is auctioned off. its a shame the family wants to make money off of their families possessions, but ya know....it happens. :)
2. This is a matter for the next of kin of the individual. Families are different and as such operate differently. Many of Elvis' personal items went in the museum at Graceland while others ended up in private collections.
