Lawn Mower Belt Help?

I recently got a new belt for my mower a 1997 yardman . I was told that I need belt number 754-0371A (i need the belt that makes the blade turn) I went to NAPA and gave them the numbers and they said that their belt number 6402BR matched up with the numbers i gave them. the difference that i see is that the original measures 74*5/8 and the new one is 74*3/4. my question is will it fit?

1. It should fit just fine.
2. The belt they gave you is longer (3/4" = 6/8") so it will fit, yes. The question is that with pulley drives, a snug fit is require to give traction enough to turn the pulley. The only thing that can be said is keep the receipt and try the belt anyways.
