Question about automatic bidding on ebay?
I read the help page, and it says when you bid you enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for the item. So here's an example: Bob is trying to set up automatic bidding. The maximum amount he wants to pay is $25.00. The starting bid for the item is $5.00. Trying to set up automatic bidding, he places a bid for $25.00. Does that make his bid $5.00, then keep bidding for him until the amount reaches $25.00? That's what the help page said. Is that correct?

- more or less how it works ye
- Yes,his maximum bid will be $25 when the auction reaches that point. He can win sooner for say $21.
- yes as it states unless someone pays 26
- yes. if you win, you may not be paying your maximum bid. i've done it and always got it for less then the maximum.
- Don't forget that someone else can bid too. If the starting bid is $5 and someone has already bid $20, the screen will still show $5. Then second bidder comes along and bids $6. eBay's auto system clicks in and still shows bidder #1, but now with a high bid of $7. 2nd bidder nibbles away, bidding $1 more than shown until the bid gets to $20. Bidder #2 is convinced the seller is bidding against him because he knows no one else could be watching the bids so closely.
