Can a person lose their job because they have to go to court?
My friend received a notice in the mail today that he has to go to mediation tomorrow. His wife's lawyer would not agree to change the date. He is a class A driver and was suppose to leave tonight to deliver a load in another state. Can he be fired because he has to go to court? Is that legal? If he does not show up for mediation it would result in his wife winning everything and putting him into a great amount of debt and him losing alot of family antiques.

- No, it's against the law to fire someone because of jury duty, or anything that a court of law demands he/she attend. They would get sued, I can only dream that would happen to me.
- no you cant lose your job just take them your court paper work
- He should try to find out why he didn't get more notice, his attorney should have told him as soon as the date was ordered so that he could prepare. Good Luck
