Belt Auction

What are your best tips for selling on E-bay?

What are your best tips for selling on E-bay? I am a casual seller on E-bay. A few times a year, I sell off some things that I think might go well on E-bay (for example: kid's clothing, jewelry, movies, books, etc.) I want to make sure I am getting maximum dollar potential for my sales. Is there a best day/time to end an auction. Is picking a 7-day auction duration always the best choice? Any tips you can give from your experiences on E-bay would be appreciated! Thanks.

  1. If you are selling on ebay, I would do the following: (1) List items on auction for .99 or less starting out. It is cheaper. (2) Use ten day auction. Yes there is a charge, but the 3 extra days for people to find your items is worth it (3) List your items through a outsource company like Auctiva. Its super easy, and you can put multiple pictures and a gallery image, along with a scheduled auction at no charge. (4) Post multiple pictures, the more the better so the buyer knows exactly what they are getting. (5) List many auctions at one time so there are more chances for buyers to find ur page through searches. (6) Also put a link in your description telling buyers to visit your other items. (7) Dont overcharge on the shipping. Overpriced shipping turns alot of buyers away. Thats all I can think of right now... that will get u started.
  2. In my personal opinion, the longer the auction, for the most part, the better. You have to look at when people are able to get online and bid. You also have to take into account the different time zones, because everyone around the world is able to see your auction. You may get off work at 5pm EST, and that maybe the only time you have to check on your auction. If thats true, would it not make sense that someone in China would have a similar schedule? They may get off work when its time for you to go to work, and that may be there only chance to see your auction. So, making your auction a little longer helps to let other people see it in other areas. Now, you have the issue of someone seeing your auction, and not setting it to watch, but realizing they may have 7 days to check on it again. They will most likely forget about it entirely. So you see, it all really depends on what you have, and who it would appeal to I guess. If its a car, then the longer its on, the more people will see it and the better chance you have of more people bidding. As for when to end an auction, if your appealing to your time zone or area more, then I would end it early evening, when most people would be able to see it end.
