How does priceline's bidding program work?

I'm planning to buy a plane ticket through priceline's bidding option on their site. I see that you can pick your dates and airports, but not the time. Is time the only thing that you can't pick, or do they sometimes change the day and airports too?? Can anyone with experience using this explain how the process works, since you are obligated to buy the ticket if the bid is picked up. I just don't wanna get ripped off if they change the flight dates or switch airports within the city.
