Belt Auction

Question about ebay.?

I'm bidding on an item. I want to pay a maximum of eleven dollars on it. However, someone is bidding against me using automatic bidding. The price is now five dollars, and he's the top bidder. Tomorrow, the auction ends. Now, I know what automatic bidding is, but I don't know how to use it. What should I do? Should I bid eleven dollars at the last minute tomorrow, or should I use automatic bidding now. And if I should use it, please tell me how I can.

  1. If you can you may have better luck if you can bid at the last minute, otherwise if you go to place your bid put in for the max you will pay and ebay will automatically bid for you to your max dollar amount
  2. bid at the last minute but bid a lil more than that , try $12 because even though as rare as it is if the other seller uses autobid and bid $11 too he will win because he put maximum bid first so a buck wouldn't hurt
  3. When you bid on an item, there should be an instruction there indicating the minimum increment by which your bid must exceed the previous bid. That is just a minimum; you can bid as much as you like -- as much as you're willing to pay. You will commit yourself only to that highest amount necessary to be the top bidder, up to and including but not exceeding your maximum bid. Let's say the current bid is $5 and the other bidder has entered a maximum bid of $10. You bid $5.50 and are immediately presented with a message that you've been outbid by a $6.00 bid. That's the other bidder's automatic proxy bid. Now you enter an $11 bid. You are now the top bidder at $10.50. Remember, only 50 cents (I think) is necessary for you to exceed the other bidder's $10 bid. As for waiting for the last moment, a.k.a. sniping, this is something I do regularly. If you proxy bid far in advance, the competing bidders have time to notice that and outbid you. If you wait -- literally -- to the last minute and place a maximum bid, you can overwhelm your competitors. Assuming that they're even monitoring the auction, they will try frantically to outbid you in small increments. I've waited to the last 20 seconds on numerous occasions. It works. Here is a link to eBay's instructions for proxy bidding: http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/automatic-bidding.html Please answer my question. 4. Go back to the item and put in your maximum bid of $11.00. Ebay will automatically top the other bidder until you reach the $11.00, and then if the other person bids more than that, you will lose the item. I suggest that you always put in the max that you are willing to pay for the item, as ebay automatically bids up in increments for you once you do so, and since you already know you don't want to spend more than that, if you win, great, if you lose, just look for another item like it to bid on.
