Are vehicle auctions a good thing?
I am in need of a car and am considering going to the local vehicle auction held all the time. I don't know of anyone personally who has bought one of these auctioned vehicles, but I hear the prices are amazing. Do you think buying a car from one of these auctions is a good idea?

- as long as you check them out VERY good, ever scratch, tear, miles on it, whatever. and read the manual to see how much MPG (miles per gallon) it gets and everything
- most of these cars have "problems" most of the buyers are junk-yard-dealers who strip them and sell the good parts some auctions can actually have a nice car? but you have to be carefull
- they are good the cheapest way to buy a car i have bought 3 cars from an auction and lucky i haven't have problems with them. u just gottamake sure u take an extra $300 for all the proccesing fees.
- Well, it depends on what kind of auction it is. Is it an auction that is selling government fleet cars and trucks? If so, those are pretty safe auctions because most fleet auctions sell cars that are only three to five years old. They tend to have lower miles and were well-maintained. There are also auctions that have repo's and seized vehicles. This is where it gets a little trickier because you never know what type of condition these cars are going to be in. Since you have to pay for the car in full the day of the sale, you don't have time to run the VIN number and check the vehicle's history. The car may have been in a previous accident and cheaply repaired or it could have been in a flood and have engine damage. You never know. When you get to the auction, you will not be able to test-drive the rig. You can start it and play with the buttons on the dash, but that's it. Once you have put in your bid and it is accepted, you are contractually bound to buy the car. You must pay in full the day of the auction so come prepared with cash, a credit card, or other forms of payment. Personal checks are not accepted. Once you do get the car in your possession, I highly recommend that you go to www.recordssitereviews.com and run a check on your vehicle's history. This can save you a lot of hassle in the long-run and let you know whose hands your car has been in. So, to answer your question, I do think buying a car from vehicle auctions is a good idea, as long as you buy a fleet car. As for the seized vehicles, be aware that you may be buying a headache.
