Is there any way to clean a glazed belt?
Any time I leave my truck parked outside for a week or so the belt glazes and sqeals. Is there any way to clean the belt so it doesn't make noise? I really don't need another $60 gates backup belt.

- There are belt "dressing" sprays you can apply to squeaky belts. Check your auto parts store. They do the trick.
- Are you sure that it is not moisture that is causing the squeal? Goodyear makes a belt called a Gator Back and it is designed to defeat the squealing problem. Before you go and put this new belt on, make sure that all of the pulleys are clean and that there are no bearing issues or tensioner issues that need to be resolved first. I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but it is probably going to be the best way to resolve your problem. Good Luck
- Get a wire brush and hold it against the ribbed side of the belt while the engine is running. This will deglaze your belt
