Belt Auction

When is the most effective time to end an ebay auction?

I'm about to list several items on ebay and I would like to know when the most effective time to end an auction would be. I'd like for my auctions to end when they could potentially be viewed the most.

  1. after lunch or someone in the afternoon or in the morning when people check their email.
  2. Great Question. I have found that Sunday around three tends to be the best. People can follow the auction during the week and get involved during the weekend. Church people are home and bidding at the time, and nobody is sleeping. It is the ideal time on a free day. You also have time to box things up and ship out the next day. Good luck!
  3. That's an excellent question. Unfortunately, there is no "one right answer". That's because it depends on what you are selling. For example, if you are selling electric guitars, the best time to end the auction (built-up enthusiasm, high-energy bidders) may be late at night on Friday (the buyers have been drinking, jamming, etc., and now want a new guitar), but if you're selling plush toys, the best time might be sometime like mid-day on a weekend when Moms have the time to monitor ebay. Do your research. Figure out what similar items (like the one you want to sell) were sold recently, which ones fetched the highest prices (when there were multiple similar ones that sold at different prices) and WHY - was it because of the time the auction ended? Was it because there was an article in the local paper that drove up interest that day? etc. You really need to do that research. That is part of why eBay can be a full time job! :) Good luck, FF
  4. It all depends upon the item you are selling and where you are selling it. There is no one set day and time as the best for every item. You would be very surprised by some of the answers I found when I asked myself this same question. When you list an item you want it to end when there are the least number of items similar to yours that are also available for sale. The real secret to getting the best price is having your item end when there are the least number of competing listings as yours. If there are many items similar to yours ending at the same time, the prices will be lower and the chance of actually selling the item will be less which means you may not sell your item at all. You need to research eBay for the specific item you are selling and this can be done very easily. I put a quick video together for my blog subscribers which shows he best day and time to end a "wii fit". The item was used just as an example. You can view the video online at http://auctionaffiliatesecrets.com/ebay_research/video/ This video will show you how to find the best day and time for any item you are selling on any of the eBay sites ;-)
