just read in newspaper about Antiques Roadshow?

A man bought a bottle for £1,000 from a dealer and took it to the roadshow to be valued, he was told it was an olive oil bottle from Tesco bought in 2008, it isn`t being broadcast to save his blushes but has anyone else been took in by a dealer and lost money?

2. No but apparently it is quite common. The buyer should claim for Misrepresentation in order to regain his spent money, and time wasted going on the show. What a nightmare, poor bloke.

Not been taken in by a dealer by buying anything from them however I once had a dealer come to value some items for me, he picked up a pair of brass candlesticks & told me they weren't worth much as they were modern - they had belonged to my grandmother (possibly weren't new to her) - so I quickly showed him the door. I decided either he didn't know what he was talking about or he was more likely trying to rip me off so he left empty-handed.
8. its a common occurance for folk to take modern junk along to the roadshow ,they provide a skip for peeps to drop the junk in as they leave

That dealer must have seen him coming a mile off. I bet it even still had the best before date printed on it :)
