Question about karate belts?
I'm in kickboxing and I go 10 minutes before class to watch karate. I'm wondering about the belts.. I see kids having little colour sticker things on the end. What is that? thank you!!

- They usually indicate 'in between' ranks. While little kids don't have a lot of patience and it can take quite a long time to get promoted to the next rank a lot of teachers opt to give the little ones in between ranks. So instead of going from yellow to green for example they get a yellow with one sticker or stripe then maybe two stripes and so on until they reach their green belt. It breaks it down a bit for them and makes them feel like they are moving up.
- That depends on the style and school. It could be a rank, for instance a white belt with a yellow stripe is 1 rank above a white belt. It could be a school thing where it signifies they did something as well.
- they mean the rank so if you are in yellow belt it cloud be strip one two or three
- well i have those and its to indicate how many classes youv had since you got your belt once you get three you are eligble to begin your testing period
- Because it is a mcdojo and focused on making kids happy and not just teaching real martial arts.
- tags, tips, stripes represent half ranks, eg. yellow tip or stripe is in-between white and yellow
