  1. white yellow orange purple blue green brown black.
  2. All styles of karate and the schools that teach them have different belt orders. Be more specific in the style you're interested in.
  3. The style I took (ryobu-kai) has the following: white yellow orange green brown black
  4. that depends on the sensei / dojo / organization. there is no set standard everyone uses there own.
  5. There is no set order. There are dozens of different styles of karate. Then there are many organization, sometimes more than one for a particular style. To make matters worse many martial arts schools have become independent and are not under the guidelines of any organization. And to make matters even more confusing many schools that we call McDojo are adding more colors and more stripes to their belt system. Bottom line here is that you must consider each school individually. Even in styles/schools that use the same color belts, they may be used in a different order. EDIT: You mention a red belt. That can mean many things. Some Korean martial arts have a red belt, which is a belt that is consider lower than black belt. Then there are several different types of belts that may be considered red belts that are used in some (but ant all styles) of karate. One is a solid red belt and is usually reserved for the highest ranked black belts in a style(often only the head of the style). Then there are two other common types of belts. One is called a Renshi belt. It has a red and white stripe that runs the length of the belt. The other side of the belt is solid black. The Renshi belt is usually used for 4th and 5th degree black belt. The other common type of red belt is called a Hanshi belt. It is composed of red and white panels sewed end to end. If you look at my Profile picture, you will see that I'm wearing a modified version of the Hanshi belt. Normally the belt does not have a strip on it. The belt in my picture has a gold strip added to it. (Long story, but suffice it to say that my belt is a one of a kind specially made for me. )
  6. ---Belts colors orders are up to the instructor some have yellow and gold and some have either or. purple and blue are ofen switched same is said for red and brown. and if not swithed one or the other is used but they try to keep eack color with a level and there are usualy 10 levels of Kup (lower ranks or colored belts) and the colors match them a fes american instructors have 12 or 13 kups i do not know why. ---in karate there is no color after black just black 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and 10 that is it ---however you were half corect in schools of Jodo and jujutsu that i know of there is a red belt after black ---like i stated instructors choice in ninjutsu there is white green then black (but 9 levels of green) and in the same federation another teacher will have 10 color levels as in karate and teach the same things. ---i hope this helps you train well
