On eBay, what do you do if a high offer is made outside of an auction?
I am selling a gift card on eBay. The auction still has six days. However, I was recently contacted by a potential buyer through a message that wanted to purchase my item for a high amount. Is there any feature on eBay that will allow me to end the auction and sell to that buyer for the amount he specified?

- I wouldn't. That's a well known scam. He'll offer to send you a check for a lot more than the price you're asking for, but you're supposed to ship the item to him *immediately* in some foreign country ... and by the time your bank informs you that the check he gave you has bounced, your item is long gone with no way of tracking it and no way of tracking down the purchaser, either, because you didn't go through eBay channels!
- Yes, but I would suggest asking him to bid on the item. Ending an auction early is unfair to other potential buyers. Plus the price gets higher :-)
- IF the auction doesn't have any bids yet then you can set a buy now price for it for the amount they offered. You can do that through the revise/edit auction button. I've had people do that when I used to sell on Feebay and never had a problem.
