Someone who knows a lot about antiques could you help me?
My mother just sent me this with a note saying " I got this at an antique store, you can put it on your vanity." And didn't bother to tell me what it was. Does anyone know what it is? A lipstick holder?? http://www.flickr.com/photos/22262285@N07/3723436148/in/photostream/ It doesn't open. Its about 4 inches wide and about 3 inches tall. Nothing moves at all. Its just one hollow solid piece with the holes on top. I took it to a local antique shop and was told it may be a hat pin holder but they also said they were only about 10% sure.

- No, it looks more like an English (victorian) Pill Box. But it's hard to determine the size of it from that picture. Does it open up, and if it does, what does it look like inside? Hmmmm....does the top move at all? I ask because I see the holes, but it looks like a second lid underneath the top. I wonder if it's an old potporri holder? Other than that, I'm stumped as to what it is..... sorry.
- its a vinaigrette .put bouquet garni in or similar
