What size brake shoes (rear) for 1998 chevy cavalier 2.2L?

I was looking online and both autozone and discount auto parts' sites list two different sizes for my year cavalier: 7 & 7/8 inch OR 8 & 55/64 inch. Am I going to have to crawl under my car and measure something? My basic manual has no specifications on brakes.

  1. Yep. You'll have to find out which brakes your car has before you buy parts for them.
  2. no all you have to do is buy them both and take back the one you don't need, it is always a good idea to buy a spring kit,to insure optimum performance, in my experience the larger brake size was usually related to a performance option of some kind, that was more than likely a special order from the factory for that year make and mode, but who knows anymore, hope this helps
