Can I see someone's maximum automatic bid on Ebay?

I'm bidding for a first press CD for a friend's birthday against a user with auto-bid, and I don't wanna carry on bidding if his maximum is way out of my price range. Is there any way of checking it? I'd really like this item.

1. His proxy bid is based on his maximum. There's no way to tell what it is without bidding against it. One should always wait until the last 30 seconds and then bid your maximum. T hat way your hand isn;t being shown to other competitive bidders. Good luck.
