Is Ebay jacking it big time to its sellers?
I just realized lately the importance of Ebay charging a final value fee. I hope that I am very much mistaken but from what I have seen it looks like I will have to make at least 6-10 US Dollars on each item I sell (beyond what I originally paid for it) to cover the listing fee and final value fee. If I have a correct understanding of this - then I think Ebay needs to stop being greedy! I mean they are the biggest and definitely most known bidding site. Anyway, I digress, the fees according to the page I saw is, for instance for selling clothes- 15% for the first 50 US Dollars and then 9% for the rest of the money! Now this is on Fixed Price listings which don't always sell but do usually yield a higher amount. However, the online auctions are 9% commission...Here is a link to what I was looking at - I hope that I am wrong here. Thanks for your input. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html#fvf_fixed Also, are there any ways around these fees?

- Yeah, eBay are being so greedy! It cost about $20 (Aus dollars) final value fee (on top of the listing fee, gallery picture etc which was $9) to sell a canoe!!
- Yes! Don't sell on ebay! They were running a promo of free listings but guess what: they are now running ads on our auctions! They stole that from eCrater: it's completely free and they run ads. Problem? Next to 0 traffic on there, unless you're a seller! Myself I constantly buy stuff on ebay for 99c. And I'm talking super rare and highly collectible items. How they make their money, I don't know. It wouldn't be worth my time to go to the post office, really! List your stuff at iOffer instead: it takes a while, but Google eventually picks up all your items and then the buyers pour in. iOffer is the biggest auction site after eBay. You can list as much as you want and you don't pay anything (except for their current scam to ask you for $20 upfront; so far I've got around it and maybe you can too. But they blocked me from listing/selling and they deleted my store but they now restored it after I complained). Anyway you can make good money and you only pay after you sell. You never pay for pix. Otherwise I'd say list it everywhere: also eBid and Bonanzle.com I think Amazon is too expensive to sell unless you're a business. Hope this helps and "I'm ready for my 10 pts now, mister DeMille" =)
- Ebay deserves it's name FEEbay - they are greedy - and charge to much because they are sinking fast - their auction tactics are to fleece whatever they can out of the seller Look at who is buying - not many people are bidding because most of the junk sellers they have left are drop shippers with high starting auctions when you can buy the same thing from the drop shippers site at half the price
