How to get a refund from an item bought off eBay?
I live in the U.S. I bought a collectible figure off of eBay. The item is located in China. It said it could be almost a month before I would receive the item. The item has yet to be shipped. Today I found the same figure for sale in the U.S. and it would only take 2 days to be delivered. Is it possible for me to get a refund so that I can buy the item that is in the U.S. instead of China? What are the steps in doing so?

- A month? That's a scam. When I vacationed in Tibet a few years ago, I bought a hand-woven rug and had it shipped back to the states. Took about 3 weeks. The rug weighs about 40 pounds. No way a figurine takes a month. But if you already paid, it's probably too late.
- Hi, If you already paid, the seller might refuse to refund as you're the winning bidder. Email & ask if they will cancel & refund the sale.
- you better hurry up and email the seller, and nicely ask them to cancel the transaction and refund your money. Tell them you bought it by mistake. I am assuming you already paid for it . If you didn't pay for it, Don't pay for it, and send them a polite email, apologizing for the inconvenience. If they keep your money and ship your item, you are basically screwed. It's probably not worth the effort to demand your money back, send the item all the way back to china (at your risk and expense) and hope everyone cooperates with you, and hope the package is not lost or stolen. If it's a very expensive item, then it's probably worth your time to get the refund by shipping it back. But only if i'ts quite pricey, in my opinion.
- Did you place a bid or was it a "Buy It Now"? If you place a bid, it is a binding contract. Even if the seller agree to let you get away with it, eBay may not allow you to cancel the order especially if you had already paid for it (with PayPal). If the only advantage you have for buying the item in the U.S is shipping time, I think you might as well just wait for it. It is not worth to ruin your reputation just because you can get the item faster. However, if your order was a "Buy It Now", then, you do have the right to cancel it. The Consumer Law allows a cooling off period.
- Contact Ebay. Also note their warnings regarding international shipments
