How to calculate V-belt's pitch diameter and size for 3 inch pulley?

1. V-belt sheaves are usually specified in pitch diameter. If you know only the O.D. subtract 3/8"- 1/2 " (total) for belt thickness allowance to estimate the P.D. The pitch of the V-belt is not in the center, but closer to the OD.
