How do I find the sale information for the vacant lot next to my house?

There is an empty lot next to my house that is for sale. It is owned by the city or county, not privately owned. How can I find the sale information for this lot? I've already check johnlscott and windermere, etc. and it's not listed with any of the real estate companies..

1. How do you know it's for sale? Check with your local assessors office - they should be able to at least tell you who owns it.
