How do new real estate agents make a living?
How do new real estate agents make money during periods they have not sold properties. Do you work 2nd jobs, have someone supporting you? Just curious. I am really interested in starting a career in real estate, but I know during the first few years you don't sale as much as agents with years of experience. So how DO you make a living off of you real estate career with no sales as a new agent?

- consider the less-common types of RE; commercial building with business cemetery time share camp grounds and being an exclusive buyer's agent luck
- I am a real estate agent in Sydney, Australia. We work on a target system in respect to commission, but also take home a retainer each week.
- Yes, you will need a second job for about 2 years. If you have someone to support you with the finances that always helps, but you don't necessarily need someone to support you if you have that second job. People usually come to a new real estate agent when they haven't had someone help them in the past with real estate. i.e. If they have a favorite agent then they will usually go to them. But if you're nice, very helpful, and patient with people then you'll build a clientele and people will recommend you to others. This all takes time though. Best wishes! :)
