How can I tell if an Ebay auction has a reserve or not?

When Im looking at an auction on ebay, is there any way to tell if it has a reserve or not? You would think since they want to sell the item that they would let the bidders know if they have passed the reserve

1. click on the listing. where the price is, it will say "does not meet reserve" if it has a reserve. but if the bid price is passed the reserve, then there is no way to tell.
2. Just ask the seller using the "ask question" link. If he won't tell you, pass on by. I have never understood on Ebay why they have a reserve. Why don't they just make the reserve, the starting price?
