Where is the best place I can purchase airline tickets with Military Discount?

I am heading to New Orleans in December and am looking at booking a flight with military discount (yes I am former military). I tried to google it but haven't found anything good. Any good suggestions?

  1. It depends the region you're traveling. Try Southwest airlines. My daughter is in the Air Force for 15 years, and she says they give the best discounts. But remember, it depends if Southwest serves this region. Good luck!
  2. There are no former military discounts. Some airlines do offer discounts for active duty military. But to get those, you need to contact the airline directly.
  3. Southwest has an awesome military discount. It's a percentage off their middle fare but you can move it around and all. Southwest flies into New Orleans so it's a matter of if they fly around where you're coming from. Most airlines give military discounts so shop for tickets like you normally would and then call the airlines and see what their discount is. I would stick to Southwest if you could. I live 2.5 hours away from New Orleans but when I buy my own tickets, I make the drive to Southwest, I saved so much money with no bag fees or change fees. Though I just read your question again, some may only offer discounts to active duty, and they usually will check your ID (my brother had his checked both ways) and if their discount is really good they may be really strict about active v former, so call and check. Good luck!
