Why do giftcards for clothing retailers have been selling for almost the full value on eBay?

I saw some giftcards been auctioned on eBay why, for example, a U$100 gift card for Nordstrom has been bidded up to U$99 ( just U$1 dollar less than the full value of the card). I have not been able to understand why people would bother so much in bidding just to save a single dollar. What am I missing here?

1. A $1 saved is a $1 earned. Additionally, there are some people who will not be outbid!
