why is no one in ebay bidding anymore?

I recently start noticing that there is not much people as before in ebay, I see a lot of merchants but just a few bidders. Is there another website where everyone is going now instead of ebay or what is going on?

1. The merchants are taking it over bit by bit
2. With the economy the way it is maybe people figured out they don't really need all that crap.
3. I don;t use Ebay too often; but when I do, I do Direct Buy. Bidding just requires time that some people don't have, I suppose?

With all the changes ebay have implemented recently ie Hidden bidders (which I hate with a passion) makes shill bidding harder to see, unfair feedback rules for sellers, increased non payer bidders (sellers are buyers too) Many fake items, scammers etc, Of course it may have something to do with the economy & people are cutting back on little luxuries. I know I dont buy as much as I used too probably as there is nothing I really want or need but I still like to watch & will bid if the price is right - got a new dvd for 5 cents the other day cant believe I won it /for that price.... What are you selling? Do you have much competition?
5. It all depends on what you are selling. I am still selling a ton of one of a kind items, unusual items, antique items, etc. BUT was selling clothing for years and now am stopping. The clothing portion of ebay is simply oversaturated with product. How many people do you know that want to scroll through 27 pages of one item ?? It's ridiculous. So if you are a seller take a look at what you are selling and what the volume is on ebay for that item. You may want to rethink your strategies.
6. A lot of sellers are overcharging on shipping and that turns a lot of people off. Not that many great deals these days and a lot of people I assume are saving. Never know when your last paycheck might be? I'm noticing a lot of scams too where people are selling things very cheap and then the feedback proves me right. They take your money and run. Perfect feedback until then. Such a shame. mx
