Karate belts?????????
I know different styles have different belts. In mine it's white, green, brown and black but you have to get three stripes before you can advance to the next belt. I was wondering what other peoples grading system was? I know , not very important question but I'm curious

- white yellow green blue brown red black
- white, orange, green, red, midnight blue
- Too many to describe I have work to do. Jus Google some different styles. There are a lot of diferent ranking systems.
- Hey I do American Kenpo Karate, we have tips in between belts (stripes) it goes: white belt yellow tip yellow belt orange tip orange belt purple tip purple belt blue tip blue belt green tip green belt brown tip brown belt black tips 1, 2 and 3 black belt
- white 3 stripes on white green 1 stripe on green brown 1 stripe on brown black we can not attain black in under 5 yrs
- White Yellow Gold Orange Green Purple Blue Red Brown Brown & Black Black So, other than 2 Brown belts, "we" do away with stripes and tips and such. You pass a test, you get a different belt. But, color belts only translate within an association, so who cares.
- White Yellow/Gold Blue Green Purple Brown Brown w/1 Black Stripe Brown w/2 Black Stripes Black Although, in our dojo, you only advance to a new belt when awarded it by the instructors when they feel you have earned it by demonstrating a certain level of technique and proficiency. There are no test dates what so ever. People can be at the same belt for long periods of time while others advance more quickly.
- white, orange, blue, purple, green with 6 stripes, green with 4 stripes, green with 2 stripes, red with 6 stripes, red with 4 stripes, red with 2 stripes, apprentice black, black. (it's possible to have 5/3/1 stripe on a belt, doesnt happen often though)
- There are lots and lots of different belts within the same style. I do Tae Kwon Do myself and ours is completely different than the other TKD school five miles away. Ours is like this: White White w/ black stripe Yellow Yellow w/ black stripe Green Green w/ black stripe Blue Blue w/ black stripe Brown Red Black (1st dan) Some people though may skip certain black stripe stages. I think it depends on how well they know what is required for that level, how well they do during their test and in regular class and probably a few other factors.
- for kids, we don't have to get stripes to move on to the next belt. for adults, they have to use one belt for three levels. the belts go: white, yellow, orange, red, purple, blue, green, brown1, brown2, brown3, junior black(under 16s), senior black
