Unfamiliar territory-has all the trouble in Greece destroyed real estate?

I've been checking remax.gr and the Aegean/Ionian 3br/2b houses are either dirt cheap or insanely expensive.any quick help?

Public Comments

  1. Surprisingly prices are only a little lower than they were before the crisis.
  2. No, it hasn't. The properties that are worth buying are still very expensive (only a maximum of 5% drop), and the properties that are old/mediocre are cheap. The real opportunity now is for those who have cash-money to buy older houses and renovate them, if you go for a brand new property the prices are still insanely high.
  3. Estate prices are always in conjunction with their relative state, year of construction, position, type of construction and other relevant conditions. So, you can find an estate that is relatively cheap because some of those conditions are not met or are partly met and on the other hand properties that are expensive on account of all the above conditions having full effect on it. In general prices are a bit down regarding those that were in effect a year ago and possibly they may go down more as owners and constructors are eager to sell in order to avoid paying taxes for them. If you are really interested in buying, the best is to choose an area that you want to have the property and do your own research in a house to house or road to road one and see properties and mostly compare prices. Then if you are not satisfied apply to any real estate office and see what they have to offer you, keeping in mind their fee that you should best preordain to the actual transaction.
  4. Why are you surprised? In Aegean sea you've got Sandorini which is insanely expansive and you've got Ai Stratis in the middle of nowhere, practically isolated with one ferryboat every week. How can you compare these two islands? Location Location Location!!!
  5. 'Pie in the sky' 'garbage.' 'Living the dream!' "Prime Real Estate'......."developers!!" A "developing economy!!!" Prudently-responsible people, throughout Europe (except Greece and The Republic of Cyprus - these 'papermoney-crazed' "bubbles" 'frolic' in....... 'cloud-cuckoo land') are (at loooooong 'fffffffffiddlesticks' last) developing the intelligence (and wisdom) to realise that things are going to get from bad to worse, and, continue to do so; UNLESS. "Correcto mundo." N.B. Its only 'bricks and mortar' - £50 thou; that's all they are worth.
