need help with belts and pulleys on my lawn mower?

i have an old 18hp powr kraft lawn mower that i am trning into a mud bogger and i deceided it was time to put new pulleys on it to make it go faster. the pulley it has on it rightt now takes 11inches to go around it. the pulley i want to put on takes 15 inches to go around. would i just need to put a belt with 4 more inches? becouse one is 11 and the other is 15 i figure an extra 4 inches on the belt will fit it

  1. About 7 inches longer according to this site. http://www.csgnetwork.com/pulleybeltcalc.html Plug in the actual numbers you have and see what you really need.
  2. The new belt will be way too long and loose If you are talking about the entire circumference of the pulley. The belt only rides on a fraction over half the pulley so you need to divide the circumference of each pulley in half then subtract the old one from the new one and add that to the length of the old belt. If you are talking about the point where the belt contacts the pulleys on either side then you should be ok with the 4"
