back in the 1950s, when did girls start to wear stockings and garter belts?

how where the sanitary napkins held in place? what was a sanity napkin belt and was there different sizes? i was woundering what age the girls change from wearing sock to wearing stockings with garter belts?

3. you are asking two entirely different questions... women wore garter belts and stocking until pantyhose were invented, then they had a choice as far as question 2, the belt was adjustable and had several sizes for sanitary pads, thank goodness for self sticking pads and better yet tampons...
4. Did you know that men wore garters? Until elastic, it was the only way to keep socks and such up. Elastic has also done away with suspenders for the most part. Sanitary napkin history is a whole other issue. Did you know that many women made them instead of buying them? I can even produce a link that teaches women how to make and clean them for re-use.
