- Yea kimbers are very good guns, if you have the money get one. But I perfer my Sub Compact XD40.
- I like it a lot.
- lol, my uncle just bought a new kimber the covert II with crimson trace and it works well as a CCW because of its slim profile. I recommend a full size 1911 because the CCW grip length is horrible compared to a full size witht the extra grip and capacity. The only downside is that you would prob opt for shoulder or IWB carry.
- I don't care much for the single-action 1911 for a CCW gun. Too many sharp protruding parts. I would go for a sleek double action.
- I like it and could soon love it. It reminds me a lot like the SeeCamp .32 that I now carry, but with more "beans" and that could be worth the money. The size is truly a defense weapon and more than enough to possibly save you in a close encounter.
- Well, it looks like it has a safety?- If so- then thats good. Weight looks good. Barrel- 2.7", thats too short. Grip length? can't tell. Looks like it may be too short. Trigger pull- 7 #s. Thats too much. edit: I believe Thinkingblade confirmed what I said about the grip may be too short. If you can not get enough of your hand on the grip- you will fumble the gun. And if you do manage to get a round off fast enough- you will probably miss the target.
- Looks like a great pistol for its class. The price tag doesn't look so great though. I'd buy it...if I won the lottery.
- So it's basically the idea of the Colt M1903 updated by 100 years, more or less. I think I'd rather have a Springfield Armory EMP, but at least it breaks out of the current mold.
- I like it, but I'm looking moreso at Kahr's offerings for the money. PS to Desert Eagle: The gun may look a little bit like a 1911 as it gets many of it's aesthetics from that gun, but it's actually striker fired much like a glock.
- I like the concept a lot. A single stack 9mm should carry very nicely. The proof will be in the shooting.
- HA! You're safe on this one Ink. I like Kimber's, but this thing is too small for me to get a grip on (TWSS). I prefer the XD Compact 45acp personally. With the grip extension on the 13 round magazine and 4" barrel it feels and shoots like a full size, in a compact gun.
- Personally? I'm not a huge fan of two finger guns. Meaning the grip area is so small that best I'm looking at getting a grip of no more than two fingers, and maybe just barely that. That Kimber looks to be that way. Right now there are a ton of guns out there in this class, so I am probably in the minority in my bias, but fundamentally, in addition to the issues of controllability of a firearm that I have a tough time getting a grip on, I'm concerned (and have run into some issues) with the draw. I've nearly dropped one of these really small guns coming out of an IWB holster a few different times doing practice around draw under stress. (so against a timer) It doesn't seem to be only me either, because in a league I used to shoot in, I've seen it on occasion that people have dropped their gun or tossed it down range trying to clear leather when they can't get a good grip. Now, like everything else, there is a practice, practice, practice component to this, but inherently, if I can get a carry gun I can get a normal grip on, I prefer that. The previously mentioned Springfield EMP - or the Kimber equivalent (the Covert?) or the others in this class to me seem plenty small enough to conceal, and if they have aluminum frames are light enough to where the difference isn't that important compared to the weight of a loaded magazine. They are pretty though. Thinkingblade
- It looks like something I want to try out.
