- First, Century 21 offices are individually owned so it's not like going to Sears or Home Depot where the same company runs every location. One Century 21 might be a lot different than the next one. Second, the realtor representing you, the buyer, is probably has more impact on you than whoever the seller is using. Finally, the person who owns the house for sale has final say over whether you are getting a good deal.
- The real estate agency does not own the house. If there is any 'deal to be had', that must be negotiated with the seller(s). Century 21 and others merely help the sellers to find an eventual buyer.
- I would never use the listing agent as my buyer's agent. So it would not matter who it is listed with.
- Most RE offices, no matter which flag is flying out front, are independantly owned and operated. I am sure there are terrific and not so great agents in just about any office. The rub: Some agents do not have the time or patience to deal with FTHB. The agent/office does not "give me a good deal" - all transactions have to be negotiated. What you need is an agent that has the knowledge and expertise to work for your best interests and hold your hand along the way. It is in your best interest to NOT work with the listing agent, their job is to hold the sellers needs in first position, not yours.
