Should female real estate agents get a license to carry a gun for her own protection?
I'm going to be entering the real estate industry in a few weeks as a sales person for selling homes. I was just curious about whether a lot of female agents carry guns with them (such as for Open Homes) for their own protection. I want to feel and be safe at all times especially in the times we live in today. I just think it would be very easy for a dangerous person to over power me if we were alone together. Please HELP & answer my question!! Thank you!!

- That's paranoid. if a job is so unsafe that you need to holster a gun, try a different career.
- I do not think so. I hate to sound like I'm making you sound weak, but that criminal could use your own gun against you. He will most likely be stronger than you. I wouldn't carry a gun, but that's me.
- Personally I think everyone willing to put in the time to learn how to use a firearm should get a CCW permit. My wife has one, I have one and when my son turns 21 in 18 months he will have one. The main thing is get training beyond the class and practice with the gun.
- You could get a carry permit but only if you know how to use a gun & are willing to use deadly force to defend yourself & others. It is not something to be taken lightly. Do not carry a gun if you are not willing to put in the work to know enough to about it so you are not a danger to yourself & others. You have to be will to take a life, that's a BIG responsibility.
- I think you should carry a gun if you choose too. However I would not ask the government for permission .
- I think that's a bit extreme. Why not opt for pepper spray or mace?
- Not with that attitude. A "gun" does not make you safe - it is merely one tool among many that can be pressed into use upon need. You need to get training in recognizing risks and how to avoid them. Then you need training in the appropriate use of "escalating force" to properly select the tools necessary to stop a given attack (e.g., walk away, voice command, fists and feet, martial arts, tear gas, firearms). Many people who lawfully carry guns fool themselves into thinking they are magically "safer", even though they have no training in any of the above, merely because they have a gun. Then they're surprised when they pull the gun at the wrong time and find themselves disarmed in under a second, or find themselves sued for taking a shot at someone without proper justification.
- Get the training, get the permit, get the gun. Don't listen to those who claim that you will be safer in a fight against an assailant who is bigger by being disarmed. The assailant being bigger than you is the reason to carry the gun in the first place.
