Ebay, Bidding Process.?

Let's say the Max Bid is at $35 for a game. If I put my max bid as $10,000, then no one could, or would, bid over me. because then they'd have to pay at least $10,000. so i won. i'm sure its not as simple as this; tell me what's wrong with ↑ (i'm new to ebay. i need to understand the process before diving into the competitive nature of bidding.) Thanks! I understand that i pay for what i bid. but just now, i put my max bid at $35 on a $31 bid. the bid rose to $32. if i put $10,000 for a $35 item, the bid would only rise to $36, no? and then, no one could bid over me, because they must bid more than $10,000 which no one wants to do. i know this is badly worded; im sorry.

  1. Well if someone were to mess with you and bid $5000 you would have to pay $5000, not the best plan.
  2. Problem is, do you really want to pay $10,000 for a game? You MUST pay what you bid, that's the catch.
  3. Yes. But what if someone put in $9,000 thinking the same thing and then time runs out. You now owe $9000 for something isn't worth that much. Never bid more than you are willing to pay!
  4. You would win, but there may be someone trying really hard to get the game who would drive up the price. Best thing to do is snipe, wait until the timer is at 13 seconds, then put your highest bid in, or bid a little extra Someone else you pay what you bid, thats wrong, it may not go as high as your highest bid, but I agree dont bid $10 000 lol
  5. bidding if you put your max bid at $10,000 some one need to bid more $20,000 to win that item unless you wait for last minute for item before the expire day or time. here is another EX A put bid 37 and max 37 B put 40 and max 40 C put 60 & max 65 once some put put max number of bid some one need to more than max
