By how much do I adjust salary cap in yahoo fantasy baseball to account for fewer players?

In a normal twelve team league, the cap is defaulted to $260. If I've only got ten teams, but I want the bidding process to still be competitive, I'd need to raise the cap. This would allow the teams to compete over the highest ranked players in the same way as if there were still twelve teams. This assumes a normal 5x5 full-MLB universe. How much should I raise the cap? What about if there were only eight teams?

  1. Your question makes no sense at all. Everyone has the same amount of money, it shouldn't matter whether its $100 or $200 or $400. Why would the amount of money change "the competitiveness" of the bidding process? If Pujols should go for $40, maybe he goes for $50 if people have more money. Maybe he goes for $30 if people start with less money. What's the difference? But think about it, the end of draft guys that go for $1 are going to be better in a 10 team league than in the 12 team league, right? Because less guys are going to be drafted, there will be better guys left at the end... knowing that there are better guys at the end, in a 10 team league, you actually bid MORE for Pujols than in a 12 team league... because you aren't as worried about blowing your budget, because of the better guys at the end. If you want the top players to go for the same amount, you need to lower the cap. (again, this is all sort of pointless, why even change the amount... clearly you don't see the ramifications. Just leave it alone)
