Can I get Ebay to place an automatic bid at a set time?

I've got no internet connection for a few hours this evening and an ebay listing ends in this time. I don't want to put my max bid in now and just hope I win because people always keep bidding till they beat my max amount. So I wanted to now if there was a 100% legal & free way to place a max bid a few mins or so before the auction ends? Any help appreciated.

1. You can set a max price for your bid and Ebay will bid for you. There is no way to place that last minute bid as you describe.
2. Hi I use this cos i am often out when auctions end. worth a try. http://www.myibidder.com/download/ Have a read about it anyway, you can't lose anything, people can still beat your highest snipe by placing a higher snipe with this or a similar application but it gives you a good chance.
3. time cannot be controlled and if someone outbids your max bid, then you lose even if you manually enter a bid 20 seconds before the auction ends, you could still lose to someone else's automatic bid if their max bid higher - I just lost a bid like that last week
