Vulcan Arms Co. Shotgun?

I have a friend who purchased a Vulcan Arms Company 12 ga. shotgun recently at an auction. He is trying to restore it and needs help with replacing the stock. The gun is a side by side, outside hammers, 29 1/2 " barrels. I have photos, but I don't know much about these things. The gun has a serial no. 374352 and my friend thinks that the existing stock may have been homemade as you will be able to see from the pictures I can send if you think you can help him. What we do know is that the gun was probably manufactured in the late 1800's or early 1900's. I have tried Numrich Gun Parts and shotgunworld.com. Please - any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. My friend knows that this gun is not worth a lot of money nor is it a valuable collectible. He just happens to like the gun and would like to bring it back to as close to original as he can. The gentleman who answered this question seemed to think we wanted to know how much it was worth and thought that we had something worth many dollars. Not so! Just want to know where we might find a stock to replace the "homemade" one. I have photos if anyone can help. Thanks for taking the time.

  1. Just another hardware gun made by Crescent Arms that has no collectors interest and are usually just wall hangers. They usually have damascus barrels and are dangerous to fire with modern ammunition. Even to use black powder loads it has to be examined by a gunsmith. Here is a story about these guns that seem to be in every American family. There are no parts available, and your only option is to try to buy another one and swap parts. Not really worth the expense as these weapons go from $40.00 to $150.00 if in shooting condition. http://subgauge.com/articles/grampas_shotgun.html
