How i can i fly cheaply from the UK to New York and back?

Hi everyone, I need to fly to New York preferably between 13th August 2011 and come back by 31st August 2011. I'm travelling with another person and the cheapest tickets we can find range from £619 - £700 per person [that includes there and back] Only problem is I can't afford those prices so I need to find cheaper tickets to get there and back. I've tried looking everywhere, from Virgin airlines to Qatar and on comparison sites such as Expedia too. I don't even mind using a discount but i can't find any of those either. Does anyone have any other ideas of where else i can look, or any other ways of travelling that i could try? Please, I'm running out of time and i need somones help!

If you don't mind an extra 2 hours on your trip then consider flying via Iceland. Icelandair frequently often has some great deals. You have an aircraft change at Keflavik, but the airport terminal is modern and well maintained. go to http://www.icelandair.com
By just going onto ONE website, the first one I found lastminute.com the return price is £546...........search for UK to US cheap flights, lots of sites come up....teletext is also worth looking at and call into your local travel agent and thell them you are looking for flights,plus date and ask them to look for you..tell them the cheapest price you have found and from where...they are very likely to get it cheaper still
