How can I stretch out a leather belt?

I just purchased a new leather belt. It is a size 34, and I generally buy size 33 pants. It's not too small, but I wouldn't mind if it was a little longer. Are there any tricks to stretch out belts? I heard you can do it with steam, but I don't want to damage the leather. Any suggestions?
