Are there really bidding sites for electronics that our not scams?

I heard from someone that they got there daughter a Ipod for $79 on some bid site . I'm wanting to get my daughter a laptop for Christmas . So love to know any sites that you can bid on electronics that are not scams ?

  1. Stay away from there, all penny auctions are scams. It may look like a great deal (and it can be... for the site owner) but since you could put in quite a bit of money and walk away empty handed, it should be considered gambling. Take that $79 iPod. That's 7900 pennies bid by several people, and even at only 50 cents per bid that's nearly $4000 for a $200 product, plus what the winner paid. Guess who gets the leftover money. And even if you accept that, can you accept the possibility that you could lose all the money you put in? Imagine buying 30 bids at 50 cents each and running into someone with 31 bids at the ready. You lose, you're out $15, and you and your co-losers have more than paid for the other guy's win.
