AK-47 Legality?
Is this AK-47 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=81074215 allowed to be owned by someone in California?

- There are some so called grandfathered weapons, which are those which were registered in CA prior to the CA weapons ban, and can be transferred to other people.
- "There are some so called grandfathered weapons, which are those which were registered in CA prior to the CA weapons ban, and can be transferred to other people." If you owned the firearm and registered it prior to certain dates you can keep it, but you cannot transfer it to anyone. In fact, a parent cannot pass their so-called assault weapons to their children in their estates at death, the firearms must either be sold out of state, transfered to certain dealers, destroyed or surrendered to the State. The AK shown in that URL is not legal for sale or transfer in California. The rough rule of thumb is that if it has a removable magazine and a pistol grip you can no longer purchase it. Also magazines larger than 10 rounds are illegal in this state. You do have other options like the Ruger Mini-14 and Mini-30, the Springfield M1a, M1 Carbines, Kel-tec SU16, and (coming soon) the Beretta RX4.
- NO...No Dealer in their right mind would try to ship one to California only to have it confiscated. Sorry. Thats California for you.....
